IMPROVment
IMPROVment – Case's undergraduate improvisational comedy troupe, finished their fall season last Friday night. They held a total of 12 performances this semester, including performances at events sponsored by CWRU Film Society and Juniper Residential College. They estimate they have performed for over 1200 people throughout the semester.
Most of IMPROVment's shows have been held in the Eldred Theater Black Box. The Black Box is a small, crowded venue and is usually filled to capacity. "Sometimes people come an hour early just to get seats," said Chris Kervick, a freshman in the troupe. IMPROVment hopes to raise money next semester to fund an overhaul of the Black Box to allow for larger audiences. "We're really happy about how large a fan base we have, but we're always trying to reach new people," said Matthew Whilden, who has been with the troupe for three years.
In addition to the Black Box overhaul, IMPROVment plans to sell T-shirts next semester and have Ignite Productions air their performances on CaseTV. IMPROVment will also perform between CWRU Film Society's showings of The Aristocrats early next semester.
