Check out Boys Don't Cry, the acclaimed 1999 film that won Hilary Swank the first of her two Academy Awards. Swank plays Brandon Teena, a sensitive, considerate, and secretive young small-town man who will meet disaster when it's discovered that he was born a woman. The Cleveland Museum of Art is sending some significant new exhibits to the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland. The first collaboration in the CMA@MOCA series, "Drawn, Exposed, and Impressed: Recent Works on Paper From the Cleveland Museum of Art," features 17 drawings, photographs, and prints by Chuck Close, Christopher Cook, and others created over the past decade. Ray Howlett's prism-like glass sculptures reflect the light surrounding them, creating an effect that looks like a neon web spun by a mind-blown spider, or perhaps a rainbow painted by tripping leprechauns. Now on display at Cleveland State University's Gallery C, the Nebraska artist expresses himself through color, light, and glass; check it out, you'll be glad you did.
