The Case wrestling team's season ended much like it had gone all season: good but not great. Wrestling hard against the toughest competition in the region, the team finished sixth out of twelve teams.

Drew Gardella came back from a disappointing showing the week before to take second in the region at 133 pounds. B.J. Greenman, Thomas Sanders, and Bob Gavlak were the fourth place finishers for the Spartans.

Timothy Sykes thought he could have done better, but was optimistic about the season and the future.

"Personally, I didn't do nearly as well as I would have liked," Sykes said. "But, from the start, I looked at this season as a learning season, and I tried to take in as much wrestling knowledge as possible. The guys in the wrestling room are so talented, it's almost impossible not to come out of there on any given day without having learned something."

Thomas Sanders echoed Sykes' remarks.

"In general, I have been consistently impressed with the work ethic and accomplishments of this fine group of young athletes," Sanders said. "Everyone put forth their best effort. No one on this team has anything to be ashamed of, and I look forward to working with all of them next year."

He prescribes year-round work and focus for having a strong team next year, his senior season.

"I think if everyone puts in a little work over the summer and comes back next fall with the right attitude and focus, we should be in excellent shape for next year," Sanders said.
