Amid tensions and controversy, Hundert resigns
Elizabeth ZhengNews EditorAfter weeks of scrutiny from the Case community and media, President Edward Hundert submitted his resignation Wednesday, March 15 to the university's Board of Trustees. Hundert will remain in office until Sept. 1, 2006. "The current tensions on campus have been too distracting to keep up our great visions for the undergraduate program. I believe that these distractions are hindering the advancement of the university," Hundert said.[read more]
John Carroll, cold weather spoil opener at Nobby's Ballpark
On a day when temperatures dropped into the low 30s, the Spartan bats never warmed up during the opening of Nobby's Ballpark. After a ceremonial pitch involving the namesake of the field, Nobby Lewandowski, junior pitcher John Thuermer delivered the first strike for the Spartans – a fastball right at the knees. The opening of the park was certainly the biggest hit of the day for Case as the offense was only able to produce four hits and left four runners on base.[read more]
The true life of video gaming at Case
Popular campus myth has it that Case Western Reserve University is widely known for its geekiness and its high population of glow-in-the-dark students. But many Case students will tell you that's far from the truth. In fact, many students feel that Case's gaming community is much more social than it appears to be.The majority of Case students use their time playing video games to socialize. Multiplayer games like Mario Party or Halo allow students to talk and spend time with their friends while relaxing.[read more]
