Free Speech Zone: Student misses World and Nation section
To the Editor:
At the beginning of the current semester, I was slightly disappointed upon opening my copy of The Observer. In place of World News was found a new secion – Just in Case. While I admire the vision for adding such a feature, I feel there could have been a way to include both sections. Either both could be included in each volume, by reducing their size, or they could have been printed in alternate weeks. As evidenced by the much discussed local news clip sent out to the senior class by the class officers, Case students don't really pay attention to the news.
This may be due to lack of interest or time.
Regardless, who is to say that Case students tune in to world news, or ignore it just as they do the local version? Maybe if it was right at their fingertips, i.e. in the paper that they were already reading, they would take the two minutes needed to read through it. Therefore, I ask you to consider finding a way of including both important features.
