Phi Kappa Psi hosts annual softball tournament
As summer approaches and temperatures rise, students are able to enjoy the outdoors even more. Taking advantage of the nice weather is the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, who will host their ninth annual softball tournament to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Rainbow Chapter. The games will run from noon on Saturday, April 22 to noon on Sunday, April 23.
The tournament is very relaxed in that teams can choose to come and only play a single game. Students who are not playing may also participate in the event by enjoying the music and cheering on friends. "The bottom line is this: it's a great time whether you come to watch or play," Phi Psi Dan Dennhardt said.
There will also be chances to win prizes. Gift certificates will be raffled off from popular local vendors such as Chipotle, McNulty's, Que Tal, and Wackadoo's. The big corporate sponsors this year are Chipotle, Johnny Malloy/Geppetto's, and Quiznos.
There may even be an additional feature. "Weather permitting, there may be a very large slip - and - slide during the day on Saturday," Dennhardt said.
Last year, Phi Psi had about twenty teams register, and they are hoping for a good turnout again this year.
All are encouraged to play. "The atmosphere is really relaxed, so people shouldn't worry if they're not the greatest softball players," Dennhardt said. The cost is $50 to register a team, and those interested can register at http://phipsi.case.edu/softball.
