This week's General Assembly meeting started with Executive Board Reports. President Neil Ursic discussed the Executive committee's intention to continue funding one-third of the cost of the final two soccer games as well as the cross country team's trip to Cincinnati this weekend. He is also working with the university to resolve the social security number issue and to have a student body representative placed on the University planning committee.

VP of Student Life Myles Nickolich reported that a new ordering kiosk system for L3 has been ordered, which should help shorten lines at that venue. The campus emergency phones are being fixed, and more patrols have been added to the south side of campus. The last plasma screen will be set up in Schmitt over Winter Break.

VP of Finance David Gasser discussed Mass Funding that took place. Over $300,000 in requests came in from 121 student groups, setting a new record. The bill approving final funding for student groups will go before the GA in two weeks.

VP of Public Relations Adam Rupe reminded the GA that next Tuesday will be another open forum, this time discussing smoking on campus. The forum will take place in Thwing at 7 p.m.

The only resolution before the GA was one that would have given University-affiliated drivers of hybrid vehicles free parking on campus. Adam Rupe spoke in favor of the resolution. The goal was to encourage people to purchase more environmentally-friendly vehicles, and to open a dialogue with UCI and Standard Parking about getting such a discount implemented.

There was considerable discussion on the topic. Matthew Crowley felt that it is a tax on people who do not own hybrids. The bill failed 13-19, with 5 abstentions.

An election was held for Representative from the College of Engineering. The only candidate was Jeffrey Beverly, who won the position unanimously.
