USG Briefs

President Neil Ursic began by saying that the Academic Integrity Board's policy is to have all of its members approved by USG. However, that has not happened in several years, so both organizations are looking into the origin of that policy and what to do with it in the future.

VP Nickolich addressed the plan to implement a block meal plan, where meal allotment would be per semester instead of per week. If implemented, this would occur next school year. The opening of Adelbert Bridge has been pushed back to Dec. 15.

VP Gasser commented about mass funding for student organizations, which is almost over. The finance committee has been averaging about 20 members in attendance per week. Gasser is planning on regulating committee size to allow more efficient functioning of the finance group.

On Dec. 8 during community hour there will be a funding forum in which student organizations will be able to review and discuss the funding process with the Finance Committee and help make it more efficient. The online mass funding system is still being worked on as well.

This year a record number of student organizations requested a record amount of cash. To help streamline fund distribution and allow more efficient use of limited money, the Finance Committee might possibly restrict the number of organizations next semester, as well as look over the purpose of currently existing groups to see if any overlap exists.

The only resolution before the GA this week was the funding bill. A large amount of money went to cultural organizations because they put on large events that the entire student body can enjoy. There will be one more round of funding appeals once the final funding goes out. The bill was passed by the assembly unanimously.
