Career Center to host spring fair in Thwing
Next Thursday, Feb. 22, the Career Center is hosting the Get Experienced! Intership and Career Fair in Thwing Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The fair will allow students to network with over 50 employers and gather information about potential jobs and internships.
Thwing's second floor will be devoted to networking with over 50 employers, allowing students to mingle with representatives from the different companies. The atrium will be the place for information about co-op and Junior Year Abroad, as well as summer opportunities like Summer on the Cuyahoga.
In addition to networking opportunities, the event will include Breakout Sessions. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Spartan Room on the third floor of Thwing will be dedicated to providing information about volunteer opportunities with the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning. In the latter half of that time, students can also visit the Spartan Room to learn about networking between college students and area professionals.
From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., representatives from Support of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors (SOURCE) will be in the Spartan Room to discuss opportunities in research at Case.
Prior to the Career Fair, interested students can get a leg up on the meet and greet process through workshops held in Sears.
On Monday, there will be a Career Fair volunteer information session in Sears 462 for those interested in working behind the scenes at the fair.
"Besides helping ensure that the event is a success, volunteering provides an excellent opportunity to meet employers and make a positive impression," said Amy Sindelar, assistant director of the Career Center.
On Tuesday in Sears 480, there will be a workshop titled "How to Work a Career Fair." The workshop will give students ideas on how to get the most out of Thursday's event.
Students participating in the career fair should bring multiple copies of their resumes and dress professionally. Though the Career Fair ends on Thursday, students can continue to prepare for the working world by attending the Etiquette in the Information Age program. This will be held on Friday, Feb. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Nord 400. An overview of professional communication success strategies, protocol, and responsibilities will be featured.
