Friday, Feb. 23

Children of dysfunctional families everywhere, grab your favorite movie snack food of choice and head to Strosacker tonight to catch the Academy Award-nominated ode to familial neurosis and the American dream, Little Miss Sunshine. Boasting a fantastic cast that includes Steve Carell, Toni Collette, and Greg Kinnear, Little Miss Sunshine is one of the best, and most light-hearted, satire of the year. Diana: A Celebration, which opens today at the Western Reserve Historical Society, pays tribute to a princess whose death hasn't stopped her popularity with an exhibit that includes more than 150 items. In addition to her famous wedding dress and a gold tiara that's been in the Spencer family since the early 1800s, Diana: A Celebration includes pre-princess curios like a stuffed animal from her childhood and the dictionary she used in school. Saturday, Feb. 24

Grab your friends, throw on your stilettos, and head to the annual Snowball dance tonight at the Myers University Club downtown; transportation will be provided from Thwing. Enjoy watching your friends and classmates perform in the fashion show, and then dance the night away to a live jazz band and DJ. Time: 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Cost: $12 for singles, $20 for couples. Come downtown and say hello to the ever-harmonious alternative popsters Guster, who play the House of Blues tonight with Mason Jennings. Never ones to take themselves too seriously, Guster returns to Cleveland tonight in support of their latest studio album, Ganging up on the Sun, which boasts more of their signature vocal harmonies and exploration of new sounds. The snow has melted; get yourself in the mood for spring by heading to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens for the opening of the annual orchid show. The Bulgarian State Opera rolls into Playhouse Square tonight with its production of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. Thursday, Mar. 1

Fans of soulful, introspective male singer-songwriters are sure to enjoy tonight's performance by Mat Kearney at E. J. Thomas Hall in Akron.
