Name, year, sport, et cetera: Carrie Casden is a senior biomedical engineer who plays first base on the softball team.

High School, Hometown: Thomas Worthington High School, Worthington, Ohio.

Years participating in softball: 17.

Athletic honors: First-team All-UAA twice.

Academic honors: Dean's List.

Who or what inspired you to play softball: I got started in sports because I wanted to be around my older brother and he was playing sports.

Hobbies/extracurricular activities: Playing video games and chess.

Jeffrey T. Verespej: Terrific. We have almost nothing in common so far. Favorite athlete?

Carrie Casden: Don Mattingly. He should be in the Hall of Fame.

JTV: No World Series, no tragedy, no Hall of Fame. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

CC: Being a doctor in a hospital.

JTV: Sounds kind of sterile – no beaches or anything. If you could be one place but Case (like you would ever want to leave), where would you go?

CC: In the Caribbean with a margarita and a tall, dark, and handsome man.

JTV: Now that's more like it! At least the Caribbean part. Anyway, favorite quote?

CC: "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." – Benjamin Franklin

JTV: Big Brother is watching you. What's something most people don't know about you?

CC: That I love to sew.

JTV: You shouldn't have told me that – I need a couple pair of pants hemmed – never mind. What superpower would you like to have?

CC: I would like to have Wolverine's healing ability because I could do whatever I wanted and be practically invincible.

JTV: New and a bit alarming. I'll give you a point for creativity. If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you?

CC: Cameron Diaz, because I think that she is very funny.

JTV: Yeah, but it's too bad Justin's not bringing her back. If you could be a guy for a day, what would you do?

CC: I would try out for the New York Yankees, play golf at Augusta National, and maybe crush a beer can on my head.

JTV: Well, I don't have experience with two of those. If you could invite any three people to dinner, living or dead, who would it be and why?

CC: Benjamin Franklin because he did so many different things and I would love to gain insight on how his mind worked. Jerry Garcia because I want to know what it was like in San Francisco during the hippie era. And Brad Pitt is very nice to look at but would have to sit at the other end of the table so that I couldn't smell him.

JTV: But you want to smell Jerry Garcia? You'd better be ready to eat. If you could participate in any other sport, which would you pick and why?

CC: Basketball, because I love taking on an opposing player and dominating them.

JTV: I think everyone likes dominating. I know I sure do. Finish this sentence: Softball is like a guy…

CC: Because the balls are big but the bats are small. Just kidding guys. I couldn't resist the set up.

JTV: I would have preferred a reference to 'Paradise by the Dashboard Lights.' Favorite drink and why?

CC: Anything mixed because I don't like to taste my alcohol. Or cold white milk.

JTV: What's it like being a sex symbol to millions of lonely Case guys?

CC: It can get tough but I manage to get by.

JTV: You've got to put up with the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. Anything else for the good of the campus body?

CC: Don't let this college get you down. Stay cool, calm, and collected and you'll be done before you know it.

JTV: Tell me about it. I've only got four more weeks of doing the Spartan Spotlight!
