Worst Case Scenario: Are you an average Case Student?
Ever wonder about the FAQs regarding life at Case? Ever wonder how many credits the average student actually takes per semester? How about the time an average student takes to walk to class? Well, for the last few weeks, I've been polling random students in Nord, Thwing, Leutner, and Wade to get an idea of what an average Case student is really like. Due to the diversity of the undergraduate population, there is no average Case student or experience, but here's what I came up with. (All figures are rounded to the nearest whole number.)
Time to walk to Mather quad from trees between Wade and Norton: 9 minutes.
Time to walk to the main quad from trees between Wade and Norton: 16 minutes.
Time to get an entrée, drink, and dessert in Leutner at 7 p.m. on a weekday: 4 minutes.
Time to get an entrée, drink, and dessert in Leutner at 6 p.m. on a weekday: 13 minutes.
Time to wait in line for Grab-It at 1 p.m. on Monday or Wednesday: 2 minutes.
Time to wait in line for Grab-It at 12:30 p.m. on Monday or Wednesday: 16 minutes.
Time to wait for help during Walk-In Hours in the Undergraduate Studies Office (not including weeknight satellite visits by deans to residence areas): 10 minutes.
Time to get an exam graded and returned: 5 calendar days.
Students who regularly rely on the Greenie to take them to at least one of their classes: 15 percent.
Percentage of students who have ridden the Greenie at least once in the last week: 41 percent.
Students who regularly use the RTA system more than once a week: 22 percent.
Students who will be graduating from Case with some debt (in their name or parents/guardians' names): 76 percent.
Students who are satisfied with the eSuds system for washing/drying clothes: 81 percent.
Students who are satisfied with the new Fribley layout: 67%
Students who are satisfied with the food quality at Fribley: 58 percent.
Students who are satisfied with top-of-the-hill living: 72 percemt.
Number of credits a student takes a semester: 16
Number of times a student does laundry per month: 3
I hope this is helpful the next time you are discussing life at Case with another student or even someone from back home. There are many variables to life at Case but I figured that presenting the results of the grueling task I've undertaken would be a good change of pace from my usual more serious column. Best of luck to everyone as exams, papers, and midterms start to pour like rain during a thunderstorm.
