Arts and Culture Day raises awareness of election issues
In support of Issue 18, the front lawn of Severance Hall was covered in banners and stilt walkers as the Arts and Culture Action Committee held a rally on Wednesday.Speakers at the event included Democratic State Senator Eric Fingerhut; Patricia Horvath, the CEO of HealthSpace Cleveland; and Mark Allen Gordon, Associate Director of the MFA Program at Case and Cleveland Playhouse.Although the sky was overcast, the speakers kept the crowd cheerful.[read more]
Hockey club takes a step backward in 8-3 loss to Pittsburgh
A team wants to win every game it plays. Some losses, however, are more acceptable than others. If the team improves over previous games or faces a tough opponent, at least the players can walk away feeling as if they have accomplished something positive. Last Saturday's hockey match wasn't one of those games.The Spartans fell behind early in the first period, but a goal by Dan Pawlowski evened the score at 1-1 going into the second period.[read more]
Spartans waste opportunities in homecoming loss against CMU
It is bad enough when a team is flat-out beaten by its opponent, but it is even more frustrating when it beats itself.That is what happened last week, particularly in the second half, in Case's 20-10 loss to Carnegie Mellon in the annual homecoming football game. The Spartans had multiple opportunities to score in the fourth quarter but could only score one touchdown. Two fumbles, two interceptions, and several dropped passes helped derail a Case comeback bid."The drops were very frustrating.[read more]
UPB offers students a chance to escape Cleveland
This Fall Break, the University Program Board has scheduled a trip to Washington, D.C. for students eager to get away from Cleveland for a few days. The Washington outing sets an important campus precedent, as UPB has already offered a student trip this semester, to Chicago in late September. The Fall Break trip will be the first time ever that the UPB has planned two major weekend trips in one semester.The Special Events Committee has been very pleased with the response from students.[read more]
