CIM celebrates new era with dedication of Mixon Hall
A glittering weekend of festivities greeted students, donors, dignitaries, faculty, and public alike with the opening of the new Mixon Hall at the Cleveland Institute of Music, a beautiful and intimate venue whose official unveiling signals the completion of a major $40 million campus expansion project. Football Playoffs: Spartans defeat Widener for first-round win
Thank God the world's leading heart center is five minutes away. Down 20-15 with only 87 seconds to save their season, sophomore quarterback Dan Whalen moved the Spartans down the field on a 14-play, 73-yard drive that was topped off by Jeff Mayer's 7-yard touchdown catch on fourth down. The ball was just inches beyond the plane of the goal line and there were only two seconds left on the clock.[read more]
Nationals for cross country women; heartbreak for men
For cross country runners, thinking can get in the way. In a long, tough race like Saturday's Great Lakes Regional, it is the months of preparation that allow a runner to succeed; over-analyzing your actions while on the course can only slow you down.To that end, coach Kathy Lanese told her team before the race to "act like a horse; be dumb, just run.[read more]
