USG Briefs

President Adam Rupe reported that SEC will meet this week. After GA, the representatives went over to Thwing to paint the spirit wall in support of Caseâ€'s football team.

Representatives Alex Hamberger and Rishi Jain reported on USGâ€'s trip to Carnegie Mellon University over the weekend. They found many similarities between Carnegie Mellon and Caseâ€'s student governments. Carnegie Mellonâ€'s student government will be visiting later in the fall or early next spring.

Committee and Caucus Reports:

Myles Nickolich, VP of Student Life, congratulated Alex Pavloff on his becoming Caseâ€'s first ever Student Life Monitor. The CaseWARN system has been expanded so that parents can also be notified in case of school emergencies, but the students will have to enter their information, as the system requires a Case ID. The smoking taskforce has decided to meet once annually to review the policy, but had its last regular meeting today.

David Gasser, VP of Finance, reported that 154 organizations have requested $316,000 in mass funding this year, and the finance committee has a record amount to cut from its budget. The gas policy has been revised, and is effective immediately.

Representative Hamberger spoke on behalf of the VP of Academic Affairs, and encouraged the representatives to send any concerns regarding the teaching course grid discussion from last weekâ€'s GA discussion with Don Feke to Gasser (dlp16) or Rupe (ahr5).

Stephanie Crawley, VP of Public Relations, informed the representatives that there will be hot chocolate on the KSLOval on Wednesday to advertise the Case WARN system and increase awareness for the petition for dogs on campus. She urged representatives to attend Sigma Psiâ€'s Mr. CWRU on Friday night at 7 p.m. in Schmitt, to support USGâ€'s candidate, president Adam Rupe. The Plain Dealer rates Mr. CWRU as one of the top 10 things to do this weekend.

Sarah Park was elected unanimously as a representative of the College of Arts and Sciences.

New Business:

Resolution R. 17-09, a resolution to recommend a revision of the posting policy, was introduced. Representative Pavloff spoke in the pro. There was no speaker in the con. There were two proposed amendments, one to strike the 11â€" x 17â€" limitation on poster sizes, and the second to increase the time allowed for painting the spirit wall to be from dusk till dawn, rather than from midnight to 6 a.m. Both amendments failed. The resolution passed.

Bill B. 17-10, a bill to set the Undergraduate Student Government budget for the spring 2008 semester, was introduced. Treasurer Petrick presented the bill. The bill was tabled till the next GA.
