Fantasy Tips: Week 13
As every week passes, it becomes more and more apparent that we will have a 16-0 and 0-16 team in the same season. Hate the Patriots all you want, but you have to respect what they are doing to the rest of the NFL. Tearing every team to shreds until this past week's close call, the Pats have gotten their "scare" of the season and will continue to dominate (this includes the Steelers). On the other end of the spectrum, Miami has one last realistic shot at not becoming the worst team ever. Facing the Jets, the Dolphins most likely will not have horrible field conditions to help level the playing field between them and their opponent. Here's some tips for fantasy owners heading into week 13.
QB
AJ Feeley, Philadelphia Eagles – After a spectacular effort to almost take down the NFL's juggernaut, the Patriots, AJ Feeley deserves a pat on the shoulder and maybe a new cushion for his seat on the bench, to which he will be returning soon. According to head coach Andy Reid, McNabb will return once he is healthy, but Feeley is not worth a roster spot in his absence. Though most likely a fluke, Feeley's performance has to make the Eagles question their superstar QB and how he fits into their system. In the past two years, the best QBs for the Eagles have been backups of a different type of QB mold than McNabb. Though Donovan will take over as the starter as soon as possible, I see the Eagles and McNabb parting ways in the future. Maybe he will go to Chicago and play for his hometown Bears. Something to ponder. WATCH OUT.
RB
Reuben Droughns, N.Y. Giants – Reuben is getting the start in week 13, but not because he deserves it. Injuries to both Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward have put Droughns at the top of the depth chart for the Giants. With starter's minutes and carries, Droughns is definitely worth a fantasy starting spot. A big, physical back, he will be headed to the Windy City next week where running backs get through the defense as easily as the wind. Droughns will put up good fantasy numbers until the better Giants backs return. PICK UP.
Devin Hester, Chicago Bears-Pee a little every time he touches the ball? It's fine, everybody is doing it. It's the cool thing to do! If your fantasy team is doing poorly and needs a spark, get Hester. He will continue to take returns to the house and will be incorporated in the offense more and more. Though he is hit or miss, he hasn't missed much this season. PICK UP.
