USG Briefs
From the Nov. 20 meeting:
President Adam Rupe urged students to take the Strategic Planning Committee's survey.
Committee and Caucus Reports:
Myles Nickolich, VP of student life, clarified the taxing situation. Soft drinks are always taxed. For other food, Bon Appétit will now ask if you are eating in or taking out, and tax appropriately. In addition, he encouraged representatives to take a student life survey for the Princeton Review. It can be found at http://survey.review.com/.
David Gasser, VP of finance, reported that mass funding had been completed, and over $109,000 had been allocated to 156 organizations. Roughly 33 percent of requests were funded.
David Poerschke, VP of academic affairs, urged students to take the Strategic Planning Committee's survey.
Andrew Witte, VP of information technology, reported that upgrades to the USG website were proceeding smoothly, and should be completed shortly after break.
The nursing caucus held a meeting with its constituents, but only three students attended. The representatives were disappointed by the apathy of the students.
During Open Forum, the representatives discussed where they would like to see the university in five years.
Old Business:
Bill B. 17-10: a bill to set the USG budget for the spring 2008 semester, was picked up off the table. David Gasser gave an introduction. The bill was amended, to increase the mass funding line item by $2500. The bill passed.
