USG Briefs

President Adam Rupe thanked everyone for their responses to the Strategic Planning Committees surveys, and informed representatives that the first GA after winter break will be administrative speed dating.

Committee and caucus reports:

Myles Nickolich, VP of Student Life, reported that the Student Life Committee met with representatives of the RTA to discuss the redesign of the Cedar Station. The committee also had a focus group with Bon Appétit to discuss possible renovations to Leutner. E-mail Myles for a copy of the minutes from the focus group.

David Gasser, VP of Finance, reported that mass funding had officially ended, with 158 organizations recognized and $122,988.25 allocated to the organizations. Thirty-nine organizations made appeals to the committee over the past week.

Treasurer Michael Petrick reminded representatives that the last day for disbursements is Dec. 7.

The First Year Caucus reported that it is postponing its food drive to next semester.

New business:

Bill B 17-11, a bill to recognize student organizations and to provide them funding for the spring 2008 semester, was introduced. The Case Ski & Snowboard Club appealed to the GA for more funding. An amendment to increase the budget and allocate more money to the Ski & Snowboard Club was suggested, but it failed. The bill passed.

Resolution R. 17-10, a resolution to standardize classroom time, was introduced. VP Poerschke spoke in favor of the resolution. The resolution passed.

Resolution R. 17-11, a resolution to recommend the lighting of the "spirit wall" at night, was introduced. Rep Shankar spoke in favor of the bill. President Rupe made an amendment to strike the portion that involved a webcam. The resolution passed.

Resolution R. 17-12:, a resolution Requesting Signage for CWRU on area highways, was introduced. The resolution passed.

Representative Derek Moore was voted MVP for the semester.

There will be an open forum next semester on Jan. 29.

The Thwing Study Over will be on Monday, Dec.10t USG will be making ice-cream sandwiches, and the Cheese Club will be having fondue. Don't miss it!

Next Thursday, there will be a late night breakfast in Fribley and in Leutner. You don't need to be on the meal plan to attend.
