Engineering faculty proposes change to SAGES curriculum
Future freshmen classes might be able to get out of some SAGES seminars – if they're engineers.The faculty of the Case School of Engineering has unanimously approved a motion that, if passed, would provide an alternative to SAGES for engineering majors. Instead of the two university seminars, students would be able to choose a combination of six humanities and social sciences courses. For depth, at least three of the courses have to be in one subject area.[read more]
University Plan forums solicit student opinion
A plan for the university is taking shape, but it won't do so without students' input. The University Plan Steering Committee conducted a series of open forums, inviting students, staff, faculty, and alumni to discuss the committee's initial iteration of a "University Plan" for the next five to 10 years.Such a plan is intended to guide the school's priorities in development, budgeting, fundraising, and additional operations over the specified timeframe.[read more]
USG organizes awards event for outstanding faculty
With Hollywood's own annual awards season raging, Case is engaging in its own version of the Academy Awards. Accepting nominations now, the annual Undergraduate Student Government Teaching Excellence Awards honor those professors students find particularly inspiring and motivating.While the university presents other awards to professors and faculty on campus, the USG Teaching Excellence Awards are unique in that they are "solely organized for students by students," said USG president Adam Rupe.[read more]
