New ecology classes, stronger research result from partnership
Plants just got a lot more fun. This semester, Case's biology department and Cleveland's Holden Arboretum joined together to expand the current graduate research program in plant sciences and ecology.The three-year renewable affiliation will benefit both institutions. For the university, the connection will give Case students researching plant sciences and ecology access to Holden's resources.[read more]
Editorial: Newspaper is forum for university
Reading over this week's letters to the editor, one can see that Caleb Posner's last column, "Anti-Semitism strong at Case," spurred a huge reaction. We received 13 letters in total, seven of which were from the CWRU community. The six letters from outside readers could not be printed due to space constrictions. Tulsi Roy's last column, "Roman Catholic Church should follow own advice before damning others," received a similar, though smaller, reaction.[read more]
Students fall victim to massive phishing scheme
The Internet has become a convenient way to address several daily activities, like banking, paying bills, or purchasing tickets to the ball game, but in the process, sensitive information is vulnerable, including credit card numbers and social security numbers. Lately, there has been an increase in "phishing" scams in an attempt by malicious users to gain valuable information.[read more]
Students get A+ aid packages for turning forms in on time
Douglas Adams, the author of the noted Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, is attributed with the quote, "I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." Case students are burdened with a lot of deadlines that they might wish they could let fly by, like those that determine their semester grades, next year's housing, and now an especially important one – their financial aid package.[read more]
Veale next on USG's makeover list
Lab until 9 p.m.? Veale closes at 10 p.m. Looking for a quick afternoon spin on a stationary bike? Get in line behind two other students.To curb perpetual student dissatisfaction with Veale Athletic Center, USG is working with administrators to propose plans for improvement to the facilities.Students have long complained about the lack of equipment and unusual hours for the facilities, but USG is finally prepared to fix a point of great student concern.[read more]
