The members of Bigger Than a Breadbox host their second annual a cappella concert to ring in the spring season. The concert is being held during community hour, as the group is performing approximately one hour of songs, mixing fresh, completely new music with some of their old classics. Ridley Scott called it his most "complete and personal film." The United States Film Registry selected it for preservation in the Library of Congress. The AFI put it into the list of the 100 greatest American films of all time. Numerous cuts and versions have been released, but now the CIA Cinematheque brings in the fifth and definitive version of Blade Runner, the neo-noir dystopian classic that represents Scott's original, uncut vision of the story. Tartuffe, a famous comedy by French playwright Moliére, is a cute story about religious hypocrites. Cute indeed. Director Steven McCue brings the timeless tale to Case Western Reserve University, as our own Department of Theatre and Dance puts on the show. Besides, don't you want to see people in powdered wigs? Monday, April 14
Koinonia, a Christian fellowship here on campus, is holding a benefit concert to kick off the week. Featuring performances from Solstice, Case in Point, Swing Club, Juggling Club, andothers, 100 percent of the proceeds from the concert are benefiting the Bellflower Center for Prevention of Child Abuse, located on Shaker Boulevard. Raffle tickets will be sold for prizes from Rascal House and Teahouse Noodles, including many other eateries. Time: 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Cost: $3 tickets, $0.50 raffle tickets. In a close, heated race, Hot Buttered Rum took the award for best band name of all time. This American, five-piece progressive bluegrass act is based out of San Francisco. The group is notorious for putting on a great show, playing numerous music festivals, including the prestigious Bonnaroo Music Festival in Nashville, Tenn. Wednesday, April 16th
Indie rock band Ludo was formed in Tulsa, Okla, in 2003 by Andrew Volpe, Tim Ferrell, Tim Convy, Marshall Fanciullo, and Matt Palermo. Their new album, You're Awful, I Love You, was released in February of this year. Not convinced? People Magazine compared them to Queen. They stroll into Cleveland tonight. Time: 9 p.m. Cost: $10.
