Academy Award-winning director Miloš Forman's 1967 film, Firemen's Ball, dubbed his funniest and most savage film, is an intelligent satire of trivial bureaucracy. The plot chronicles a provincial firemen's ball (which includes a beauty pageant and raffle) that goes horribly awry. When it was first released, 40,000 Czech firemen resigned in protest over its unflattering depiction of their profession. Sounds like an awesome flick to catch on a Thursday night. Time: 8:55 p.m. Cost: $8. Location: The CIA Cinematheque, 11141 East Boulevard Info: cia.edu.
