Top 10... Sources for Case students

In this day and age, we are bombarded with information from a multitude of sources. Newspapers, magazines, television, radio, the internet, and even our cell phones connect us to the rest of the world. While you may know some of these sources, it wouldn't hurt to check the rest out. Here are the top 10 media sources Case students should use for a well-rounded view of all that goes on in the world.

10. IGN.com. This is Case! Land of the computer literate! I'm sure some of you have been here, but if not, it has news on all things gaming. For all you World of Warcraft fans out there, this may be the thing for you.

9. The Plain Dealer. This seems like a no-brainer, yet many students ignore it. The Plain Dealer is Cleveland's primary newspaper. It covers important national news items, while also covering local Cleveland news. If you are not from the area, reading the front page every morning can clue you in to some of the local goings-on.

8. Youtube.com. Who doesn't love Youtube? You can find whole episodes of TV shows, hilarious parodies, and just about everything else under the sun. There are Case students who post on here, so go find some funny clips fellow classmates created.

7. The New Yorker. This magazine includes not only reviews, opinions, and some local New York news, but it also features short stories and other non-fiction pieces. It is an ideal off-beat publication for those interested in creative writing. Poetry and cartoons are placed throughout, solidifying it as a magazine for people who love to read.

6. PerezHilton.com. I'm not ashamed to admit that I have been known to read this blog. Perez gossips about celebrity news and tells the world what we all really think, but never say. Perez is more fun than any trashy magazine; he's like a mean girl who is unashamed to speak his mind.

5. Pitchforkmedia.com. A source chock full of music news and reviews. This up-to-date indie music site is a favorite of my roommates. There are always new artists to discover here: some may even be making an appearance in Cleveland.

4. The Wall Street Journal. I love that the WSJ still uses drawings for their images, instead of photos. If you are a business major, it is a must-read to stay up-to-date on current economics and business news. The WSJ always has articles you wouldn't expect, such as Shelly Banjo's Aug. 29 article on beer pong: a fun-to-read and relevant piece for modern college culture.

3. Facebook.com. For those of you who insist on getting the latest news about the Case population, there's no better source. Certain ones among us, myself included, rebel against it, but there is no denying its grip on college students everywhere.

2. Members of the Case Media Board. What better way to receive all the pertinent Case news than from Case students themselves?

1. Kelvin Smith Library. The moveable stacks drew me in, but KSL also has a ton of resources students that most students don't even know exist. Their website is helpful, and if they don't have exactly what you are looking for (which rarely happens), they will order it for you to keep on reserve. Sometimes the library is the only place where you can get your homework done.
