Top 10 ... Reasons to get excited about fall

Summer is every student's dream. No school, warm nights, ice cream…it just doesn't get any better. Fall seems to be the most underrated season, yet it is my personal favorite. Hopefully, the Case population will learn to love it as much as I do. Here are the top 10 reasons to get excited for fall.

10. Sports. New season, new scores. Nothing is as much of an American tradition as heading to a ballgame. A few snacks and some friends, and suddenly the weekend becomes much more exciting. Watching the game in person or at home is not only quintessential college fare, but also a way to get into the Cleveland spirit. No matter the team, it's always a blast.

9. School spirit. OK, Case isn't the biggest sports school, but going to football games also showcases Case's marching band, baton twirlers, and cheerleaders. There are also lots of philanthropic events sponsored by Greek Life. If that isn't your thing, Spot Night on Wednesdays has cool bands and chicken wings! Before the weather gets too cold, now is the time to go out and support your peers.

8. Weather. Right now it is still boiling, and in a few months, it will be freezing. Fall weather is perfect. Fall has crisp cool days with plenty of sunshine, so going for walks around campus or sitting outside with some coffee is a simple way to really enjoy the amazing weather.

7. School. I know this seems like a joke, but going three months over the summer without friends and living with your parents isn't so great either. Finals are still a bit away, so now is the best time to reconnect with old friends and meet new people.

6. Fall Break. Fall break is amazing. After being in school for a while, a well-deserved vacation is granted to us Case students. If you miss home, you can finally visit family. However, lots of students take advantage of this mini-break to go on a road trip, or go home with other friends who live in different cities.

5. Food. Hot cocoa, pumpkin pie, and apple cider. All those comfort foods only come around this time of year, and what would the year be without them?

4. Holidays. My personal favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, due to the abundance of food, and the great quality time with my siblings. However, Halloween is also a blast, especially at college. You can throw a costume party, eat lots of candy, and watch scary movies.

3. Leaves. Not to get all nostalgic, but as they say, the best things in life are free. On that note, watching the leaves change and even playing in them brings back this special childhood memory. Take notice of how beautiful the trees will be. It is utterly gorgeous in Ohio this time of year.

2. New music. This time of year is often when a lot of artists release new albums. That also means plenty of shows in the area to go to. Check out Case's radio station, WRUW 91.1 to hear awesome music from student DJs.

1. That inexplicable feeling. While talking to some friends about why they personally really love fall, a lot of them answered that there is just this inexplicable thing about fall. Maybe it is a cleansing season, where we feel we can start afresh. For everyone it is different, but we all have some childhood memory or attachment to the season. It conjures magic!
