Case senior Esther Erb won her third consecutive race as the eighth- ranked women's cross country team moved up to the Gold Division and placed third out of 19 teams at the 35th annual Loyola of Chicago Sean Earl Invitational in Chicago. There were two divisions at the Invitational, Maroon and Gold. Last year, the women won the Maroon, beating out 32 colleges at the meet. The Maroon Division consists of primarily Div. III and NAIA (a division below Div. III) schools, while the Gold Division primarily consists of Div. I and II teams.

The 27th-ranked men's cross country team also competed in the Gold Division and finished ninth out of 21 teams at Loyola. Performing well for Case was junior Dominic Smith who placed seventh overall out of 233 athletes with a time of 24:59. The Spartans will travel to Delaware, Ohio on Friday for the All-Ohio Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University.
