Alpha Chi Omega kicks off Domestic Violence Awareness month programs
On Monday night, Alpha Chi Omega held a luminary lighting ceremony on KSL Oval to start off their Domestic Violence Awareness month activities.

One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. Each year, about 324,000 pregnant women in the United States are battered by the men in their lives. Every 21 days, a woman is killed by domestic violence. Ask someone if they know about these statistics and you probably will get a negative response. Ask that same person if they care about these statistics and the hope is that a much different answer will emerge.[read more]

Case adopts divestment policy; anti-genocide events to be held
STAND, an anti-genocide group on campus, is holding events this weekend aimed at awareness of the genocide in Darfur.

This weekend on campus, the student anti-genocide coalition on campus, STAND, is sponsoring two events with an aim to increase awareness and understanding of the genocide in Darfur and what students can do to become involved in the peace process. The first event, called a "Die-In," will be held today at noon in Nord. It will include STAND members and volunteers feigning death to draw attention to the reality of genocide. Information, awareness ribbons, and a letter-writing campaign will also be available.[read more]

The Spartans got back on track this weekend with a huge victory over Brandeis. After losing their first conference game to NYU two weekends ago, Case was a little beaten up. Starters Neil Duryea and Jordan Cottington both came away from the game with minor injuries. Facing Notre Dame College the following Wednesday, the team used the game as a time to get their starters healthy and give some of their other players an opportunity to show the coaches what they could do.[read more]

Editorial: New security measures should be implemented as soon as possible

Wednesday's school shooting at SuccessTech Academy near downtown Cleveland was yet another jarring example of the unpredictability of violence. Occurring amid a slew of incidents just five months after the Virginia Tech massacre, the shooting is enough to make anyone nervous.Is the world becoming more dangerous, or are we just becoming more panicked? Complete statistics are hard to come by, but on our campus, the former is true.[read more]

USG working to alleviate construction headaches
Euclid Corridor construction has caused many delays in pedestrian and motor traffic at the Euclid/Adelbert intersection.  USG is working to improve conditions at this intersection in the interest of students.

The construction on the Euclid Corridor Transportation Project has been frustrating for drivers and pedestrians alike, but Case's USG is working to make it less of an inconvenience for students.Although USG has been talking about the Euclid Corridor Transportation Project construction since last year, it has finally issued a formal request to the university, University Circle, the Greater Cleveland Rapid Transit Authority (RTA), and the city of Cleveland to better ensure student safety.[read more]
