Ludo Hits The Spot

This Wednesday, UPB's weekly Spot Night isn't going to know what hit it.

Hailing from St. Louis, alternative rockers Ludo make their Case. Fresh off their major label debut, You're Awful, I Love You, Ludo is definitely making a splash in the music world, peaking at No. 5 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. Also fueling their metaphorical flames are appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, in addition to the recent filming of the much lauded MTV show, Cribs.

Ludo's latest album is actually their third release, following in the footsteps of their self-titled debut and Broken Bride, a 28-minute rock opera in four parts released in 2005. You're Awful, I Love You has been praised by critics nationwide for its sensible pop sound, while still offering great lyrics and substantial music. The band consists of five members: lead vocalist Andrew Volpe, guitarist Tim Ferrell, keyboardist Tim Convy, bassist Marshall Fanciullo, and drummer Matt Palermo. Ludo was the brainchild of Volpe and Ferrell while they were still in college.

Needless to say, this band is on the verge of breaking out as a big name in alternative rock, so why not head over to The Spot and catch them while they're still on the verge? There's nothing like being able to say you saw a band early in their career.
