The Spartans loss to No. 15 Heidelberg University last weekend, but bounced back to snag a victory over a host Muskingum University. CWRU (16-6) fell to the nationally ranked Student Princes 25-20, 25-17, 25-21. The Spartans split the tri-match with a victory against the Fighting Muskies, 21-25, 25-15, 25-13 and 25-21. Junior Rachel Suchy posted a stellar performance against Heidelburg, racking up double digit kills with a .476 hit percentage.

The Spartans will travel this weekend to Brandies University where they will compete in the second UAA Round Robin. The Spartans currently own a 1-2 conference record and sit in fifth place in the conference standings.

 

W. Soccer:

Sophomore Erica Sackett scored her first goal of the year to seal CWRU’s first conference win of the season. The Spartans are undefeated at home and are 8-3-1 overall. Junior goalkeeper Anna Kennedy earned her fourth shutout of the year, giving her a 5-1 record for the season.

The women’s soccer team will take on Washington University tonight, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. and the University of Chicago at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17. Both games will be played at Case Field.

Senior wide receiver Zach Homyk had a career day against Oberlin College, catching 10 passes for a career-high 201 yards. Homyk also had two touchdowns in the 48-36 shoot out. Homyk earned UAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors and his play continues to dwarf his conference counterparts. Hoymk’s 133.2 yards per game is over 40 yards higher than the nearest receiver and his 10 receptions per game are nearly double Chicago’s second place Clay Wolff.
