Case Western’s Men’s Soccer team bounced back after they suffered their first lost of the season last Saturday by beating Hiram College 4-0 Tuesday night.

The Spartans scored two goals in each half to handily beat the Terriers. Chris Cvecko started Case Western off early when he took the ball to the net unassisted at the 7:01 mark. Cvecko then added another goal in the 32nd minute off an assist by Alex Masciopinto to put the Spartans up 2-0 for the half. Despite the 2-0 lead for the Spartans, it was a strong defensive half for both teams with only seven shots between the two teams.

Case took control in the second half when Dean Balabanov scored his first goal of the season off an assist by Ryan Finstad in the 59th minute. Matt Zembas added the capping goal for the Spartans in the 86th minute to put the game well out of reach. Frank Candau played goal for the Spartans and led the defense while working a shutout. Case Western will hope to continue with their strong play this season when they open the UAA season on Saturday Oct. 5th against Brandeis at Case Field.
