Following the disappointing home season finale last weekend the Spartans were unable to bounce back Friday night against Washington University at St. Louis. The Bears are ranked third in conference and played like it, handing Case an 87-61 loss.

The Spartans struggled offensively shooting only .319 from the field and being crushed in the paint, scoring only 18 points in the lane compared to 50 points from Washington’s offense.

Washington held the lead and the momentum from the jump ball jumping out to a 10-2 lead less than three minutes into the game. Dane McLoughlin lead the Spartan charge to get back into the game by scoring a team high 13 points, hit a three a few minutes later to pull within three, and the Bears strolled into a 45-31 lead at the half. The second half continued in much the same fashion as the Spartans gave up a 8-0 run in the opening minutes, and saw their deficit grow to as much as 22 points.
