ShowCASE will host a meeting of musical minds to benefit The Gender and Sexuality Group of the American Medical Student Association. All proceeds will go to benefit the Pride Clinic at Metro Hospital. Evil Elite, Edgewater Lights, and The House Band will play as well as select open mic performances. Have you ever wondered about Sex and the Soul in a Hook-up Culture? Kerry Cronin, director of the Lonergan Institute in Boston will speak on the high and lows of hooking-up and its implications in modern day society. A light lunch will be served.

The 6th Annual Day of the Dead Celebration brings music, food, dance, and folk art to Cleveland. An altar display, workshops, a community ceremony, and live music on Sunday follow the parade on Saturday. Make masks or paint your face while you honor those who have passed on in Mexican fashion.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s American Masters Conference kick starts a week of performances and educational opportunities based around the swinging Cajun and Jazz music of New Orleans. In conjunction with CWRU, The Rock Hall will host, among a number of other events, its second annual music conference. Big name musicians from the genre will be present to speak and play to attendees. A number of other events off-campus will be held as well.

Monday nights, The Science Café hosts a plethora of lectures on topics of especially nerdy interest. In the past, topics have included microbiology and art conservation but this Monday they are talking about Vehicle Event Data Records used by police departments and to defend manufacturers in liability suites! Come grab a beer and free food and especially to enjoy science.

Tuesday, November 9
This weekend the Extreme Mammals exhibition opens at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. Beat the lines and go during the week to see mammals so small they could fit on a pencil eraser and ones so large they look like whales with legs (no, not your Aunt Bertha!). Be amazed as well as weirded out. The exhibit runs until April 17th.
