Students can sign up for the Student Advantage Program at the box office or through email noted on their website, where $10 tickets are made available beginning the Monday prior to the concert and are available until an hour before the performance starts (tickets one hour prior are $15). Each Monday students receive an email describing the week’s concert.
In addition, students can also purchase a Frequent Fan Card for $50 that allows students to attend as many concerts as they choose. Jim Sector, assistant director of sales & marketing at the Cleveland Orchestra, said, “Some students last year attended over 30 performances.”

Most performances are open to students except when there are special programs, such as the “At the Movies” series.
The “At the Movies” series pairs classic movies with live performances by the Cleveland Orchestra. Last year comprised of sold out performances with the screenings of “Home Alone,” “Casablanca” and “Psycho.”
This year includes Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo” and Disney’s “Fantasia,” which will be comprised of the classic and the 2000 version.
There will be a special showing of the 1925 classic, “Phantom of the Opera,” which will be performed by Todd Wilson, head of the Organ Department at the Cleveland Institute of Music, on the massive Norton Memorial organ.
This classic silent film does not have a musical score and in the 1920s it was common for the film to be accompanied by a house organ.
‘The music will be improvised just like how it was in the past,” Sector noted.
Severance Hall will also have a special performance by the Vienna Boys choir in time for the holidays in December.
