To celebrate the grand opening of Uptown and Toby’s plaza, Case Western Reserve University and MRN Ltd., Uptown and Toby plaza’s developer, will host the Blue Block Party, tonight at 7 p.m. at Toby’s Plaza, located at the corner of Euclid Road and Mayfield Avenue.
The entire CWRU community is invited to this street festival, which will feature music and dance performances by university students and alumni and offer samples of food from the new restaurants, among other amenities.
Ribbon-cutting ceremonies for Uptown will begin at 7, with activities showcasing Uptown following from 7:30-10 p.m.
Business that have opened or will open soon in Uptown include Accent, Barnes & Noble, Constantino’s Market, Jimmy John’s, Chipotle, Panera Bread., Mitchell’s Ice Cream, Anne van H. Boutique, ABC the Tavern and Starbucks.
Apartments were built in Uptown as well. Several will be open for touring at the event.
The festival will kick off Homecoming Weekend for CWRU.
“I’ll probably go check it out,” freshman Mina Divan said. “I want to see the new shops.”
