New director for the Office of Education Abroad
January 18, 2019
Case Western Reserve University hired Angela Miller as its new director for the Office of Education Abroad. She started in the position on Jan. 2.
Falling under the umbrella of the Center for International Affairs, which deals with the university’s global strategy, the Office of Education Abroad provides services for international students and oversees students abroad. It helps students find, finance and prepare for a study abroad opportunity.
Miller has a background in education abroad. She focused on international education while earning her doctoral degree in educational leadership. She spent stints working at the University of Florida and Northern Arizona University in study abroad, global education and diversity and inclusion positions before coming to CWRU. Miller also visited Europe, Africa and India for educational purposes.
In her previous positions, Miller tried to make study abroad more accessible to underrepresented groups. Miller told The Daily that her background makes her especially well suited to addressing the problems underrepresented students may face.
Miller is passionate about education abroad, because she believes it to be an important component of any education. According to her, education abroad allows students to gain an understanding of the increasingly interconnected world and grow as individuals.
