Spartan men’s soccer falls to Brandeis in first UAA match-up
The Case Western men’s soccer team was disappointed in their University Athletics Association opener on Saturday. The squad was shut out by Brandeis University by a score of 4-0.
Brandeis came in with a record of 10-1, but the Spartan men looked to put a stop to their winning ways with a victory at home. The first half was kept reasonably in control even as the Spartans went down 0-1 with a goal in the 24th minute of play.
The speed of the opposition really picked up in the second half as the Judges scored on a free kick and a late surge on offense led to the 4-0 score.
The Spartan men worked hard to defend against the aggressive play, but with eight shots on goal, the Judges proved to difficult to match as the Spartans ended the game with a 0-1 UAA record.
The team looks to improve with their next conference match-up versus New York University next Saturday.
