The men’s tennis team was unable to win another round over the weekend, claiming fourth place during the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Indoor Championship tournament on Sunday. The Spartans lost to Johns Hopkins University and Trinity University to close the weekend.

Saturday started out with a 2-1 lead in the doubles round, but the Blue Jays got their revenge during singles play taking five of the six matches to end ahead with a score of 6-3. The teams of Christopher Krimbill/Eric Klawitter and Will Drougas/John Healey kept the Spartans in it, with Drougas winning the only singles match of the day. The loss took the team to the third-place match versus Trinity.

Sunday’s match started out with a disappointing 2-1 loss in doubles, Krimbill/Klawitter earning the only win in the round. Krimbill was 2-0 on the day, beating out Trinity’s top player in straight sets, but his was the only victory as the Spartans fell 7-2.

Washington University in St. Louis was the tournament winner, beating Johns Hopkins 6-3 in the first-place match.
