Every year, Case Western Reserve University lights a part of campus to remember community members or loved ones who have passed away. This year, “Light The Campus” took place on Tuesday, March 2 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. outside of the Kelvin Smith Library Oval. Prior to the ceremony, students, faculty and staff were able to submit names via a Campus Groups link to be read. After the event, attendees were also able to pick up a battery-powered light in the Thwing Center to display in their office, dorm or home window throughout the month of March. Candles were also distributed to people who indicated their interest through a Campus Groups form, in-person, on the day of the ceremony. In addition to attendees, student volunteers from different campus organizations were also present at the event from 4:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m, reading names during the ceremony and passing out cookies and candles. As the event was in-person, masks were required and social distancing protocols were followed.
