Saturday, September 4

Some of the best Cleveland bands are playing together this Saturday at Now That’s Class on Detroit Rd. in Lakewood. Cloud Nothings, Filmstrip, Safari, and Fangs Out are all on the bill. Get away from campus and chill out at this great event supporting local music. Time: 9 p.m. Location: Now That’s Class, 11213 Detroit Ave. Cost: $5. Monday, September 6 (Labor Day)

Monday marks the return of the annual Cleveland Peace Show. The peace rally takes place by the Free Stamp located in downtown Cleveland at E. 9th and Lakeside Dr. The event is free and there will be demonstrators, booths, live music, and lemonade all promoting peace. Time: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Location: E. 9th St. and Lakeside Dr. Cost: Free. Information: www.clevelandnonviolence.org/#2010_peace_show, for a list of the day’s activities.

Hear those planes flying overhead? No? Are you deaf?! If you are more interested in an event that is going to get your blood pumping and making you cover your head and ears, check out The Cleveland Air Show. The Navy’s Blue Angels will be doing amazing stunts throughout the day as well as during the preceding weekend. A schedule can be found at the event’s website. While you can hear the planes throughout the Cleveland area, anywhere you can see the lake is a good place to go watch. Time: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Location: Burke Lakefront Airport. Cost: $19 advance, $21 at the gate. Information: www.clevelandairshow.com

Friday, September 10

Next Friday during Case Community Hour, a plethora of non-profit organizations and student groups will invade the Thwing Ballroom to educate students on how to get more involved in the surrounding Cleveland area. The event is also great for making connections for future internships. Check out this free event from; grab some lunch and make a good impression while you’re there. Time: 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Location: Thwing Ballroom. Cost: Free. Information: studentaffairs.case.edu.
