Register to vote before the Oct. 5 deadline

CCEL partners with TurboVote to make voting easier for students

With voter registration for the upcoming November election closing on Oct. 5, the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning (CCEL) is partnering with TurboVote, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to help students get involved in the electoral process.

TurboVote, developed by Democracy works, is a nonpartisan organization that aims to help simplify the voting process. An online tool, it helps students register to vote, change their address of their current registration, get absentee ballots and get email and text updates about elections.

“CCEL is spearheading this initiative because political participation is an important component of civic engagement,” said Angela Lowery, associate director of CCEL.  “There are many other colleges and universities that partner with TurboVote and currently, CWRU is one of the top 10 for total number of sign ups, which is great.”

The upcoming Nov. 3 election includes many local mayors; the full list of elections is available here. Students who want to utilize TurboVote’s services can visit their website.
