New shuttle-tracking app comes to University Circle

Last month, Case Western Reserve University and University Circle introduced a new shuttle-tracking app, TransLoc Rider, to track CircleLink, parking lot and evening shuttles throughout the campus area. The new app replaces the previously used NextBus app, which is no longer in service for the area, and is available for both iOS and Android.

Implementation of the new app is expected to improve the customer experience through more accurate shuttle times and faster updates. Rider was chosen after a careful review of NextBus and the other tracking systems available on the market.

“We continue to look for ways to improve transportation options for convenience and to keep people safe,” Richard Jamieson, vice president for Campus Services, told The Daily.

The Rider app, unlike NextBus, allows users to see future shuttle arrival times as well as the shuttle’s current location. The app updates in real time and displays the next two incoming shuttle arrivals for the user’s nearest stop and chosen shuttle. It also allows users to set alerts for when they would like to be notified of the earliest shuttle arrival, allowing customers to better plan ahead.

CircleLink shuttle service was also extended last month, with two new stops added to the BlueLink route, in Cleveland Heights, and the service is working to provide real time tracking information to customers through Rider.

CircleLink shuttles are available for free to anyone in the University Circle area, regardless of whether or not they are affiliated with CWRU.
