The Case Western Reserve University community is known for thinking beyond the
possible. Each week this column aims to capture a slice of campus life.

Q: What are you involved with on campus?
A: I’m in an orchestra, the Case Camerata Orchestra. I play violin.

Q: What made you decide to play in college?
A: I did a lot of music in high school, so I wanted to have a way of continuing that. The orchestra fits in my schedule, so it’s a good way to keep doing music.

Q: What have been some of your best memories with the orchestra?
A: The last concert we did in the spring was really good. I liked the songs, and I like the music style we do in Camerata a lot. It’s a little bit older, more Baroque and classical—not as much modern stuff, and it’s a small orchestra, too. You can’t do a lot of the pieces you’d do in a larger group, but I like the smaller group better.

Q: How do you think your college experience would have been different if you hadn’t been involved with Camerata?
A: It’s just really good stress relief. The time goes by really fast. It’s an hour and a half, and I’m not thinking about everything else I have to do. I’m just thinking about my music.
