Spartan Volleyball falls to Wittenberg
The Case Western volleyball team’s record currently stands at 13-15 after a loss to Wittenberg University on Friday. During the opening match of the Allegheny University tournament, the Spartans fell to the Tigers in four sets, helping the Wittenberg team clinch their eighth straight North Coast Athletic Conference title.
The Spartans started slow in the first set, earning only seven kills and falling with a score of 14-24. The team showed signs of life in the second set with 18 total kills, shared evenly among several players for the 25-21 win.
The team looked to keep the good play going in the third set, but was hampered by seven errors by the team, causing the 17-25 loss. The Tigers finished off Case Western with a 13-25 fourth set win.
The Spartans look to break even for the season by winning the remainder of their matches in the next couple of weeks. The team faces off against Allegheny University Saturday afternoon and will be at home against Wooster for another conference match next Saturday before the University Athletics Association championship on November 8th and 9th.
